When we talk to people on our stall, their reaction to the upcoming weapons conference taking part in Wellington is one of surprise – and horror. People simply don’t know it’s happening. So how can we spread the word more effectively?
One way is via social media – harnessing the power of Twitter and Facebook. If lots of people tweet or share a status update about a particular topic at once, it can really make an impact.
A tool called ThunderClap asks people to pledge to share our message demanding the conference be stopped, via Twitter or Facebook. If we get 100 people to sign up, 100 social media updates will go out simultaneously, and people will get the message about the weapons conference far and wide.
It’s quick, simple and effective. So please get involved and add your voice to the growing chorus of people saying ‘no’ to the Wellington weapons conference!
“No-one should profit from war or mass displacement. Help stop the Wellington weapons conference #StopWeaponsConf http://thndr.me/decdlq”
Not on social media? There are plenty of other ways to get involved in shutting the weapons conference down for good.
